Sorry
to have been so out of touch as to become one of the missing alumni.
I
came to the University of Wisconsin in Madison Fall 1972 and basically have
been in this area of Wisconsin ever since.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in music (piano) and philosophy, my
master’s in philosophy and my Ph.D. in philosophy (aesthetics and ethics) from
the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
After teaching in temporary positions at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, I attained a
permanent position at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (located about an
hour from Madison). Initially I taught
an array of philosophy classes but the last several years I have concentrated
on aesthetics, ethics and an interdisciplinary course (World of Ideas).
The
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is also where I met my husband
(geology). We live on a 40 acre farm
about 15 miles from the university. It
has mostly been a hobby farm although we did do a little hay in our younger
years and my husband is presently enjoying gathering and boiling sap for maple
syrup. We have not had any farm animals
except for some chickens. We have a son
(in the picture with me) who is a forester in Idaho and a daughter (married)
who is working on her Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Chicago.
I
was hoping to make our 40th reunion but will not be able to
attend. I have been enjoying reading
your online biographies and many thanks to the reunion committee for making
this online connection possible.
