I spent my years at Mt Lebanon rather quietly, mostly hanging with
neighborhood friends who were in the class of ‘71. But I did meet
my wife – now of 33 years. In those days, she was known as Janet Jurik, Class of ‘74 and one of the costumed Blue Devils on
the cheerleading squad.
For about 30 years we lived right next door in Upper St. Clair
where we raised our 3 boys. Our sons turned out to be fairly good
basketball players and there were some classic games between the USC Panthers
and the Mt. Lebo Blue Devils. Our son Dale was a pretty good player and
was truly disliked by the student body fans of Mt Lebanon. Some of my
classmates from ‘72 also had sons playing basketball so it made for some
interesting talks at halftime. Mostly me being called a
traitor. Some of my ‘72 brethren also relocated out to
USC. A few that come to mind are Mark McKenna, Chip Young and John Surma.
Four years ago we moved to Bonita Springs, Florida, just north of
Naples. Enjoying the year round beautiful weather and waiting for
our first hurricane.
Only one of our sons is married at this point – no we are not yet
grandparents. Our oldest is in Maryland. Dale, our middle son who
disappointed the Lebo basketball fans, recently bought a house in Mt.
Lebanon. What goes around, comes around I guess. Our youngest is
down here having just graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University.
Janet and I enjoy our time riding bikes and walking the beach at
sunset. I spend my free time playing golf and “fishing the flats”.
Spent most of my career with a Japanese paper
company as Eastern Regional Manager selling technical papers.
The bulk of my business was in Canada, so I spent a lot of time in both Toronto
and Montreal.
It’s been great to catch up
on the class of ‘72 and seeing where life’s journey has taken everyone.
