After High School I headed off to The Ohio State University along with three Lebo classmates, Dennis Urban, Mickey Vogelhuber and Dave McCarty.  We got off to a bad start when the Cincinnati Big Red Machine came from behind to beat the Pirates in the National League Championship Series that year.  I guess we should have been better sports – or at least smarter – until the series was over.  But we had a great time at Ohio State, particularly when the Steelers started to dominate the Browns and Bengals.  I graduated in three years, thanks to Advance Placement credits from Mt Lebanon, but since I had met this beautiful girl my last year, I decided to stick around Columbus for another year and get my Masters degree.  But a Master’s in History is not the most marketable degree in the world, so I decided to go off to Law School.  Oh, as for that beautiful girl?  I married her in 1979 and we are still married to this day.

But for three years I was in Ann Arbor, going to Law School at Michigan while Pam went off and got a job as a flight attendant for Delta.  We lived apart for three years, but it was made easier my third year, after we were married and I could fly for free, because I could go see her on weekends.  I was the most unpopular student in Michigan that winter, because I would go out to the airport every Thursday and fly down to spend the weekend with my wife in Miami. After Law School we moved to Boston, where we still live.  I agree with one of the other writers who said it is easy to become a Red Sox fan, but I will die before I root for the Patriots over the Steelers.  Being a Steeler fan in Patsie’s country has been tough these past couple of years, but I am looking forward to some revenge over the next couple of years.

I worked for a big law firm for three years in the litigation department, before deciding that litigation is no way to live your life.  I moved in house, working for three computer companies, Digital Equipment Corporation, Stratus Computer and VideoServer, where I was General Counsel.  I went out on my own about twelve years ago and I have a solo practice, specializing in representing small technology companies.  Go to www.criswelllaw.com to see a really ‘professional’ picture of me.  I am also involved in my town – Wellesley Massachusetts – as a member of the Board of Public Works and Chairman of the Board of the Wellesley Municipal Light Company.

In 1986 Pam and I decided to have children.  Rachel was born in July 1986 and Trevor followed in January 1989.  I must say that raising my family has been one of the most rewarding and joyful experiences of my life.  Now they are grown.  Rachel, who is engaged to be married in the fall, works for the International Rescue Committee and travels the world promoting women’s healthcare.  She will go to Medical School next fall.  Trevor graduated from Kenyon College a year ago and has begun a career in the energy industry, working as Energy Services and Planning Manager at a local electric company.

So to quote Joe Walsh, “Life’s Been Good To Me So Far.”  Unfortunately, I have lost two of my best friends and hockey teammates from High School.  Dennis Urban passed away soon after we graduated from college.  And I had just reconnected with Art Chevalier when he unexpectedly passed last year.  It makes me realize how blessed I am.  I am looking forward to seeing and catching up with everyone at the reunion!  Remember, “Cakes Don’t Crumble!”
