Graduated from Carnegie-Mellon in 1976 with a degree in mathematics and education.  Was a teacher and basketball coach at our alma mater (Lebo of course) in 1977-1978.  Was the head coach of Mellon Junior High, where we went undefeated!   I assure you, it was the player's abilities and the system Dick Black and Don Hobaugh put in place, rather than my coaching abilities.  I would have stayed there, but Miss Birris (later Mrs. Frohmeyer) came back from maternity leave and bumped me off the faculty.  If not, I would have retired with 30 years of service in 2007!

Was a math teacher and head basketball coach at St. Edmund's Academy in Squirrel Hill from 1979-1980.  Was "replaced" in 1980 and made a serious career decision then and there.

Decided that high school coaching and teaching may not be what God intended for me.  Was hired at Robert Morris as a math instructor and taught there form 1980-1988 while working on my PhD.  Finished my doctorate at Pitt in 1988, and was hired as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Waynesburg College (now University), where I have been for the past 24 years.  Met my wife Mary here.  We have five children, (2 of whom are grown) and one granddaughter, and three kids still at home.  The youngest is 8, so I guess I will be working here for a long time to come.

I played basketball after college in the Mt. Lebanon Summer League from 1977-1992 (we won the championship in 1984).  I still played intramural b-ball at Waynesburg until I was 54, when I had a total knee replacement on the left knee.  My basketball days ended after that, but I still use the aerobic and weight machines at the rec. center here at the University about 5 days a week, and have a work out center in my basement.  My son Alex (17 years old) has been in the Go Jo Ryu system of karate for 8 years and will have his black belt in 2 more.   I do the karate with him, but can't seriously spar with him.  I'd get killed.  I don't want to spar with Linda Norris either, after reading her bio!

My wife Mary is a special ed. teacher in our school district (Waynesburg Central).  I am so glad to be able to re-connect with our former classmates after 40 years.  I actually talked on the phone with Dave Marino and Dean Morril for the first time in 35 years.  They both lived within 50 yards of my house and sad to say, I lost touch with them over the years.  I am looking forward to seeing a lot of our classmates at the reunion.

My hobbies include:

Religious reading

Working out

Watching Steeler games EVERY Sunday

Spending time with the 3 kids left in the house (2 after this year).

If you are totally bored at work or have some free time, please check out my TV show that airs in the Greene County area.

Go to YouTube and type in:     Waynesburg MathTV.

It should take you to some of our TV shows on mathematics in everyday life.  Each show runs about 28 minutes and the idea is to make math fun and understandable for the everyday person.  If you get a chance, check it out and even if you watch 5-10 minutes, tell me what you think.

(I can take criticism).

Look forward to seeing my classmates from Lebo in October.
