2012 - 40th OK Bill. You win. If Zangwill can send in an auto-bio, I guess I have no excuse. See you soon, God willing! After Mt. Lebanon I attended Alma College, a small Presbyterian college in the middle of Michigan from which I eventually received a BFA in photography and Printmaking with a minor in Design. From Alma it was back to the ‘Burg and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. I took a year out to teach Photography and Graphics at Warren Wilson College in Western North Carolina. I was ordained by Pittsburgh Presbytery in December, 1981 and received my M.Div. from PTS the following spring. I served churches on the North Side and in Western New York before moving to West Virginia in 1988. There’s one good story involving Mr. Lerch, an elderly couple from the church on the North Side and the Pittsburgh Opera… Along the way I got married, divorced and got a second chance at matrimony. Doreen and I celebrated our 25th this past April. I have been the Pastor at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church since November, 1997. The church is in Pinch, a bedroom community 10 miles or so up the Elk River from the State Capitol, Charleston. It’s close enough to the city but has a wonderful small-town atmosphere and a really good hardware store. I got hooked on antique motorcycles and eventually bought and restored a 1940 Indian Four. I am a regular hazard on the local roads. Weather permitting I plan to ride to the reunion. I’m still singing Barbershop; I’ve been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, formerly known by the acronym SPEBSQSA, since 1973. Doreen retired in 2005 from her career selling advertising. She was good enough at it to win us trips all over the world. She keeps asking me when I’m going to retire… |
