2022 - 50th After Lebo graduation ended up at U.S. Naval Academy. After that graduation got a year’s instruction in Russian and additional fun and games training at Coronado Island and the vicinity and was then turned loose for four years overseas to fight the Evil Empire as a member of the Naval Security Group (NAVSECGRU). Left the Navy to get an MBA at Stanford Biz School. Was on the sideline as a grad assistant football coach for Stanford’s most infamous sports moment, “The Play”. Worked on Wall Street mid 80’s to mid 90’s in NYC for Merrill Lynch. Helped to pioneer the mortgage backed securities securitization market, well chronicled in the book “Liar’s Poker”. Was an extra in Ghostbusters 2 (last scene). Moved to San Francisco in mid-90’s to work in money management and hedge funds. Got to participate in “the world’s greatest trade” as featured in the movie “The Big Short”. Split time between homes in San Francisco and Santa Cruz. Have become an avid surfer and pilot of my World War II Navy Stearman biplane. Attended Friday session of our 40th and had a blast; first time I had been in Mt Lebanon since 1976. Got a biz trip to Pgh a few years ago for my second trip. Was shocked to see no steel mills along the river and no Civic Arena or Syria Mosque as I headed to CMU campus to publicize a unique financing we did for the state (I did know it was not called Carnegie Tech anymore). Nothing major has changed in my life since the 40th. Surf lineup got really crowded during the Virus so ended up taking up surf and wing foiling; hydrofoil bolted on a surfboard and powered solely by waves (not those e-foils).
