2012 - 40th I graduated from Carnegie-Mellon with a BS in Chemistry and then received my JD from Duquesne Law School. I worked at the Allegheny County DA's Office during law school and became an associate at the Rose Schmitt law firm after graduation. I met my husband of nearly 30 years while at CMU. Chuck Spritzer graduated from Churchill High School and Duke University. We started dating when he was in medical school at Pitt and I was in law school. We married in 1983 and bought a house on Pinewood Drive in Cedarhurst, not far from my parent's home on Elatan Drive. Chuck did a fellowship in MRI in Philadelphia at University of Pennsylvania in 1985 and I worked for a law firm in Philadelphia. Lived in Society Hill and walked to work. My office overlooked Independence Hall. We moved to Durham, North Carolina in 1986. I worked at LeBoeuf Lamb (later merged and became Dewey and LeBoeuf), while Chuck became a radiology attending at Duke and is now a Professor of Radiology at Duke University Medical Center. I left LeBoeuf in 1988 and joined the legal staff at Duke University where I was Assistant Counsel for Health Affairs (Hospital Counsel). Our first child, Erin, was born in 1987. Our second daughter, Rachel, was born in 1989 and Jennifer, our third daughter, was born in 1991. My mother passed away in 1990 in Pittsburgh and my dad passed away in North Carolina in 2006. Dad worked until age 86 (2005). I keep my law license active, but changed careers in 1997 and started working in commercial real estate. I was with GVA Advantis until 2005 and then started my own firm, Spritzer Commercial Properties, in 2005. In 2011, I joined Cresa (we also have an office in Pittsburgh in North Hills, while Cresa/Savills has offices globally) and became a principal with the firm. I am most proud of our daughters. Erin is 25 and a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her JD from Emory Law this May. She passed the NC Bar and is working for a NC Supreme Court Justice. Rachel is 23. She graduated in May from Lehigh University and is pursuing her Masters in Public Policy at Georgetown University. She interns on Capitol Hill with a Pennsylvania Congressman. Jennifer is 21. She received her IB Diploma and is a senior at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University where she is studying Entrepreneurship and International Business with a minor in Russian. My wonderful, loving husband and I live in "rural" North Carolina between Durham and Chapel Hill. We are avid Duke fans, but temper our enthusiasm when UNC is playing any team other than Duke, as we have a mixed family with Erin being a UNC graduate and avid UNC fan. One thing the whole family agrees on is that we all love the Steelers! I come back to Pittsburgh at least once a year for family reunions and other family events.I wish I could see everyone this weekend, but had a conflict with other travel plans. Be well, Marlene
