2012 - 40th Left the morning after graduation to spend the summer working in VA Beach with Peggy Parker, Becky McCallum, Judy Hodgson, Amy Moreland, and Cindy Ross. Great time….wonderful memories! Off to U of MD in the fall. Learned very quickly that I was in the wrong major. Besides that, I really missed my boyfriend (Doug Satterfield ‘71) who was working in Pittsburgh. Returned to MTL, spent what little I had saved on a Golden Retriever puppy, and went to work to earn some money so I could travel. The following summer, Doug and I took the first of many trips out west where we fell in love with the mountains, the canyons, and the Pacific Ocean. Received a degree from the Art Institute and continue to enjoy drawing and painting. Married Doug in 1976…. three wonderful kids (two sons and a daughter). Our sons both settled in Pittsburgh after college and started the Internet division of Rolliers (the family business) called hardtofinditems.com in 2008. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to work with them every day, handling the packing and shipping. Our daughter is a leasing agent in Chicago, enjoying the city life. I’ve held many different jobs through the years, the most memorable a volunteer position at Allegheny General Hospital. After surgery to remove a brain tumor (thankfully benign and operable), I found the medical care to be excellent but the emotional support falling short. Working with the NeuroOncology Department, I helped to establish the Pittsburgh Area Brain Tumor Support Group and co-coordinated it for 5 years with a very compassionate PA from that department. During those years I met some extraordinary people who enriched my life tremendously. Unfortunately, with the changes in our lives and in the health care system it became harder to get funding and the group was dissolved in the mid ‘90s. Still living in Pittsburgh where I enjoy spending time with family and friends, art, taking long walks, traveling, and watching Penguin hockey! It’s been fun catching up with all of you. Many thanks to the committee for pulling this together… Looking forward to October! |
