2012 - 40th rob@flyanything.com Robert Alan (Rob) Manion here. Although I will not be able to attend our 40th HS reunion, I appreciate the staggering effort it must take to pull this off and stage an excellent website. I admit spending an hour reviewing all of the photographs; some, in sadness for the one's I knew that are no longer with us, such as Sarah Murrell. Her brother Scott and I were close friends. The picture was a couple of years ago in an Augusta 109C helicopter that I used to fly to New York City for the owner. The other was taken in 1975 on my bike. The Cleveland Police shirt that I was wearing was just a political statement - after all, that was the theme of the 70's. Since you are begging for bio's, here is an abbreviated one, in bullet fashion.... Accepted at Drexel University, but attended Clarion and Pitt due to the high cost - Graduated 1976. Currently living in Lancaster, Pa Currently employed Director of Engineering for Genesys Controls, an Industrial Automation and Control Systems Integrator (Co-Founder in 2003) Married 1991 - Margaret E. Kuhn of Camp Hill, Pa - Capt. U.S. Air Force, MSN - Currently Fed. VA Nursing Informatics Specialist U.S. Naval Aviator - Honorable Discharge in the late 70's FAA Certified Ground Instructor - Advanced & Instrument ratings Commercial Helicopter Pilot (and airplane) Sole proprietor Fly Anything Inc. (in 2002) - www.FlyAnything.com designed/developed 8 commercially-sold aviation training software products Currently competing in local pistol challenges No Kids, but 2 beautiful Irish Setters Planning on retirement in 2017 My wife Molly and I both share our common hobby of competition shooting, although she's a bit better than I am. We are also both avid sailors - I taught her to sail a 27-foot sloop on our honeymoon and we occasionally borrow a friend's 42-foot sailboat. The only thing better than owning your own sailboat is to have a friend that owns one, I always say. Over the years, I have even had the time to author a few publications in the engineering fields, including two chapters in the 'Instrument Engineers Handbook' 4th Edition, on Ultrasonic & Laser Metrology (1998). I have visited 11 countries, so far, (3 times in Ireland with family) and even worked in England for a year, back in the 80's. My love for aviation began in Kindergarten and I pursued it heavily in the late 70's. It was my main hobby - never wanted to fly for a living - just wanted to fly. I earned my FAA Commercial Helicopter Pilot's license in 2004 in order to get paid to fly instead of paying to fly. Seemed like a logical thing to do, especially when we could barely afford to keep and feed our 2 horses that Molly used to compete with in the equestrian competition circuits for many years. That should do it. Sorry I will not be able to attend, but it sounds like a lot of fun. Congratulations on your fine efforts... Maybe see you on the 50th reunion? |
