2022 - 50th Happy 50th to all Classmates! It’s amazing how fast the years have gone by. I hope all of you are enjoying life with no aches and pains! After graduation from Mt. Lebanon…I immediately left for the summer session at the main campus at Penn State. My parents had hit me with the guilt trip that if I went any further away from home, I would never come back (ugh). They also had their minds made up from the time I was in 6th grade that I was going to be an accountant (ugh #2). I studied Accounting and graduated in a little over 3 years ready to start a career in business. I interviewed and landed a job at a small Pittsburgh advertising agency. It looked like it would be fun being around creative types and I started a career that would last 43 years at the same company. I was part of a great team and I helped grow the business side. I served in many financial and administrative capacities and continued to grow though the ranks. I eventually became Exec VP and CFO of the company. I also served several years as President of our Sales Promotion Subsidiary. I married my wife Rita in 1981 and we raised two children in Mt. Lebanon. We downsized last year and renovated a townhouse …. deciding to stay in Mt Lebanon. We also have a home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida …so we spend 6 months in each location. We sold the Advertising agency (MARC USA) several years ago. I retired (sort of) but have kept busy. I still do some consulting projects and I have a part time advisor position as an Executive in Residence for the Duquesne University School of Business. After retirement, I started playing guitar and take a lesson every week. It is a great hobby and I get together to rock frequently with several of my friends. I also got back into model railroading. I enjoy going to the gym and taking long walks with my wife Rita and our new puppy Zoey. I look forward to seeing all of you at the class reunion! PS…. Who was responsible for putting the wrong name under my picture in the yearbook? LOL! 2012 - 40th I can’t believe it is already 40 years ! Left Mt. Lebo right after graduation and started the summer session at Penn State, total good time!! Joined a fraternity (Delta Chi) and made some great friends who I am in contact with to this day. Went thru Penn State in a little over 3 years and earned a BS degree in accounting…even though I hated accounting! Came back to Mt Lebo (never left) and took a corporate accounting position with a small advertising agency, MARC USA which today is the largest Ad agency in PA and has several offices across the country. Grew through the ranks and 37 years later am one of the three principal owners serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Went back to school and earned an MBA from Point Park University in International Business. Married my wife Rita in 1981 and have two wonderful children, Suzie (28) who works at PNC Bank and David (26), who currently is serving in the Navy as a petty officer on submarines. We have lived in Mt. Lebo for 30 years and are happy to report both kids are out of the house! Bought a house in Palm Beach Gardens, FL about 8 years ago and hope to spend more time there as winters in the Burgh suck! Our little Yorkie, Benji spends more time in Florida than I do (???). I still see a lot of our classmates that live in the area. Can’t wait to see everyone at the reunion. Hope all are enjoying the summer. Ps….Chip Young, Mark McKenna and John Surma could not possibly root for USC….their hearts are still in Mt Lebo ! |
